Cape Town hosted Solar Power Africa during an important period for the development of clean energy in Africa. Our plans have been advanced to become a leader city in renewable energy deployment across the continent. Cape Town will add 1GW new energy over time to its grid through power purchases, projects and incentives for small-scale production. The 2024 Solar Power Africa was a great opportunity to bring together the rapidly-growing industry to share their knowledge, expertise, and ideas, as they made a transition to energy which is reliable, cost effective, and carbon neutral," Gordon Hill Lewis said, Executive Mayor of Cape Town.
